Non-Violence As A State Of Being

Somebody defined Non-Violence as:

“Non-Violence is the personal practice of being harmless to one’s self and others under every condition. It comes from the belief that hurting people, animals and/or the environment is unnecessary to achieve an outcome and it also refers to a general philosophy of abstention from violence.”

In my ideal inner world though I am committed to Ahimsa as a way of life, I do tend to lean in the direction of anger and dissatisfaction now and then. As I hear many instances of violence in the world I cover my ears and my eyes so that I do not have to hear or see this. But then my darling children through their behaviour shine a spotlight on this very same idea.

Violence is the way for many to behave to ascertain their own individual power. I asked myself and my dear sweet children, what are the reasons behind this and what can we as individual members of the modern world can do.

The children responded in their usual loving kindness:

The main and only reason for anybody to behave aggressively to another is the perception that they are in bondage and not free to be who they are. This astounded me! Really I ask again? They reply yes! This is the underlying vibrational energetic perspective that causes each and every instance of violence perpetration to be.

So here is what they suggest as a solution:

Let us each resolve to practice non-violence in our minds first and foremost. Let us build ourselves up to a peaceful space in our minds. Next is let us practice this state as much as we can in the day. As soon as we wake up let us sit with ourselves and bring focus to our minds that we shall practice peace as much as we can through the day. Next let us find a couple of minutes through the day to sit down with ourselves, in the privacy of our own minds to regroup and reconnect to this life-giving, life-enhancing idea of PEACE. The third is to be kind to ourselves even if a hurtful idea pops up. In this instance get back to our natural state of peace as soon as we can, as much as we can.

Let us model this for our immediate world! Even if we fall off the wagon, we can always get back on it soon enough.

How can I thank the children enough for the simple ways they have guided me to be and share. Like Nike advertisement said: Just Do It!
